Wichita Mountain Estates area is a fantastic place to live.  Talk about location, location, location! Located 5 minutes from Ft. Sill, 10 minutes to Lawton and in Elgin’s Blue Ribbon School District.  Did I mention that it is only minutes from Lake Lawtonka and the Wichita Wildlife Refuge?  You will love all of the recreation available.  If you are the outdoorsy type and are looking for a neighborhood with space between homes and a nice country feel, Wichita Mountain Estates is it!  In this neighborhood you will find mature landscaping and trees, some homes with shop buildings to hold RVs or boats, some neighbors even have a few chickens or horses.  Most Wichita Mountain Estates homes sit on .5 to 2 acre lots. Many folks that live in this area have large porches for sitting and watching the sunset over the Wichita Mountains and there is nothing like an Oklahoma sunset!  As you drive around you will see many families riding bicycles, walking dogs or kids playing in the yards.  Wichita Mountain Estates may have a Lawton address, but it is located in Elgin’s award winning school district.  Bus pick up is available conveniently at the end of your driveway. Wichita Mountain Estates has it’s very own volunteer fire department, keeping a good fire rating and home owner insurance policies at a lower cost.

Wichita Mountain Estates offers more recreation within a few minutes drive than any other area in Lawton.  Family fun awaits!  You will have a difficult time deciding what to do next.

The Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge offers hiking, opportunities for road and mountain biking, camping, fishing, mountain climbing and more.  There is a nice visitor center and you can always see roaming buffalo and elk.  Wildlife tours and group hikes are offered throughout the year.  I personally love to take a hike with my camera to catch some great scenery and wildlife every chance I get.  I also grew up camping at Camp Doris and I am fortunate to now be able to take my son camping there and carry on the family tradition. Camp Doris will always have a special place in my heart and treasured memories.

Lake Lawtonka offers a day use swimming area and many campsites for tents and RVs with over 20 miles of shore line to enjoy.  This is a great place for water sports and boating.  Early mornings during the summer are my personal favorite.  The lake is normally calm and quiet except for a few fisherman and people kayaking.

Just about 10 minutes Northeast of Wichita Mountain Estates is Lake Ellsworth’s off road paths perfect for four wheelers, if you don’t mind getting a little muddy.  Lake Ellsworth is also a beautiful lake for bass and crappie fishing.

Want something more low key? Visit Medicine Park, just South of Lake Lawtonka, and take a peaceful walk along Medicine Creek and Falls. Kids will enjoy feeding the ducks and the large coy fish.  In Medicine Park, you will find one of a kind shops, local musicians and great food.

These are just a few of the many benefits to living in the Wichita Mountain Estates area where you can find a different way of life.
